How many Irish horseboxes does it take with win at Cheltenham? Joe Baker from McCarthy Commercials has kindly sent me this shot of the ultimate equine shifter and says: "Following on from the fine Grand Slam win at the weekend I thought Biglorryblog would be interested in another Irish horse box story---this one was supplied by George Mullin's brother of Willie the great horse trainer  Bagenalstown Co Carlow and supplied by McCarthy Commercials from our brand new dealer premises in Kilkenny, which was formally opened by Volvo's former UK MD Bernt Brandztaeg last September. "
Joe continues: "You can see from the above photo it's a truck with a fine pedigree - the 440hp Euro4 EGR power unit is more than enough to pull the real 'horse power' in the rear! To deliver the power smoothly the truck has an I-Shift gearbox whilst to protect these fine animals, there is no need for a blacksmith to look after the springs - the vehicle is equipped with air suspension all round. In and around the farm the manoeuvrability is helped by a hydraulic rear steer and lifting rear axle. The body was built locally in Kilkenny by Cahill's Horseboxes. meanwhile, the comfort of the driver or truck jockey is fully catered for in the one cab you have to have when carrying horses around Europe - A Globe - Trotter XL!" Great stuff Joe--and syat away from John Comer---otherwise you'll become a real 'pun'ter!
