I never cease to be amazed at what little treasures my beloved Biglorryblog army has stashed away in various dark little corners. Take my cloggie chum Henk Kruit, commercial manager at LDV Group
Although the Iveco cab is well blended in with a modern makeover it's still clearly recognisable and there's a nice touch of Magnum-type grille to the front too don't you think?

Given the extra wheel spat (ala Mercedes Axor) I wonder if this one isn't in fact based on the narrower TurboTech cab? What do you think BLB anoraks?

Meanwhile, not content with that lot, Henk then sent me these photos of the mighty URAL 6464 bonneted truck (again it's based on the TurboStar cab, albeit with a slightly revised lower door panel) and a great home-made hood housing a 400hpV8! Henk and I aren't sure where the V8 came from--either a local Russian engine or an import. Anyone know the answer to that one?

Now here's a view from the other side--you know, as bonneted trucks go this is an attractive vehicle---and it's all nicely blended into the Iveco cab too, no mean feat. I guess these shots come from a Russian truck show.

Here's the front end view...nice nose job! Now click through here to see more design studies of the bonneted URAL 6464 and who and what Idesign are....

Henk continues: "Brian, the engineering centre "i-DESIGN" was established in 2005 by senior staff of design, engineering, CAD/CAM/CAE systems and computer simulation technologies, who worked in a public corporation 'IzhAuto'."

"The history of construction department and design services at a public corporation 'IzhAuto' is about forty years, principal activity was a creation of new car's and motorcycle's models, manifold residential use production, souvenirs and advertising output, commercial product updating."

"One of the engineering center 'i-DESIGN' aims," says Henk" "Is the preservation of the first hand wide experience, an agency and a professional community for a complicated, complex design objectives research engineering problem solution. Meanwhile I'm not sure about the engine. It could be a Renault or a GAZ."

The last design drawing of the URAL 6464--as Henk says: "This is 'hot' stuff!" And great for Biglorryblog mate!

As far as I know, Ural uses the narrow version of the IVECO cab.
There bonneted version does have a Russian V8 engine. But according to there website, they can sell you a Renault, Cummins our Caterpillar engine.

They also use the old IVECO cab on 8x8 army trucks

yes please, when can we have them here in the uk,
the european manufacturers have monopolised the market here with trucks with a short service life, due to the fact that they make them of the cheapest materials and fill them with technological gadgets and gismos, most of wich is of very doubtfull real value to the owner, and also makes them extremely expensive to buy and maintain.
I think we need to get back to basics in some respects regarding the building of trucks, and it would be good to have more choice here, why not ural's.
the iveco cab with new bits added to it is a nice idea if its coming out again with the negrill and steps i wonder if f88 may pop up in years to come with bottom half modernised as were mudgaurds under cab and fron cab wall steps and headlight holders were first to drop off when theyve been parked up for ever and mother nature starts claiming back her minerals from the earth to make it
