This picture of a DUKW... Errr... DUCK from AtkiPete started me thinking as to how many DUCKS... Err... DUKWS are still around working. This one is with Rotorua Duck Tours.

This is one of the 'DC Ducks' which operate in the Washinton DC area and provide tourist trips along the Potomac River - Biglorryblog has been in one of the DC DUKWS and it's rather fun... If a bit noisy!

Here's another one I spotted this in central London some time ago - it's operated by London Duck Tours and goes by the rather charming name of Titania. And for all you classical scholars out there, who was Titania?

There's also a couple up in Liverpool doing Duck Tours... Err... Dock Tours, the Yellow Duck Marines. I believe they are called wacker quackers... I kid you not! The genuine DUKW (accept no substitute) was an amphibious version of the iconic 'Deuce and a Half' GMC 6x6 truck so beloved by the allies during the second world war for beach-head landings. Does anyone have any more DUCK... Sorry...DUKW shots? Or a list or register of how many Ducks are left in service?

This one is in Seattle (I got it from Wikipedia) and appears to operate within a US-wide ;'Ride The Ducks' operation which has DUKW tours in a number of major US cities. Boston Duck Tours has 15 original DUKWS and nine modified ones too! Meanwhile, to find out more click through here...
Vic Hungerford swent me these two. The first one if from Kuranda in the top half of Australia where Vic and his wife Val went some while back. Apparently the passengers are told that Ducks are crocodile-proof... As long as you don't dangle your arm in the water.

Not sure where this one was but it's another of Vic's pix... So do you have any of your own DUKW photos...? if so send them in and I'll post them up.

Branson, Missouri, USA has a firm called

Theree is a chap in the Heacham (Norfolk) area supposed to have a large number of DUKWS. There is a firm called Seahorse advertising tours on the Net from the Plymouth area. My uncle drove one on D-Day it was overloaded and sank, he invaded France by swimming:-)
