Clearly we're on a bit of a New Zealand blogging stream at the moment even though this has come from Aussie AtkiPete Lynch! "G'day Brian," he says. "Here are a few old timers from NZ; a great spot to visit for any vintage truck fan. One has to admire the blokes who drove these vehicles. Even today many of their main roads are... How can I put it nicely... Challenging for a truck driver. Those genuine Anoraks might be able to name this lot. Cheers Pete." Great excuse for a pie quiz Pete so off you go - hell for leather' starting with the one on the top:

Thanks for the update on Bert's Pete. He had a big clean out a while back but good to see some of his best are still there. Bert would be one of the nicest guys you will come across. His museum is in difficult part of the country to get to easily, but for any classic truck nut visitors to NZ, Bert's collection is a must! He really enjoys showing people around his collection, and if you like classic cars as well (like me) some of his Packards and other cars are amazing - even a Chrysler ute! Some of the local 'colonial' cabs on some of these trucks will be very interesting to those outside NZ.
The large yellow Inter (no clues to the year/model) came into New Zealand with a French Oil company and used for carting oil gear around. It has a 60 000lb winch on the back which was very handy for the second owner of the truck that Bert bought it off. He was a military vehicle enthusiast and used to use the Inter for shifting his tank around!
Bert also had another very interesting left hand drive Inter model (he is pretty keen on the brand) that also came into NZ on oil work but it is now down in Wanaka with George Wallis' Inter collection - another must visit place!
The B series Mack was stolen from Australia like most of the ones in NZ - never actually used here. Originally imported by Steve Murphy who operates a logging operation not far from me in Kaiapoi - Rod's probably sent photos of some of his fleet.
I'll keep schtumm on the others except to say Berna dette from Switzerland will probably know what the blue one is.
While Bert has a great collection on display, there are almost as many interesting ones waiting out in this sheds to be restored! Great place to visit
Cheers

The blue one is a Saurer Berna with a Berna sign in front.

As you say Howard, Bert made me very welcome and we spent several hours chatting about vintage trucks in general. He pointed out something very unusual about the chassis on that Swiss lorry that I would have missed. I left Bert with a copy of "Atkinson Down Under" and might even have a new disciple there.
Will keep quiet on the big Inter, there are pies at stake here.
