Thanks to the excellent daily new update I get from www.etrucker.com Biglorryblog can set you this Easter Brain Teaser... What have these five American Class 8 tractors got in common (and whilw we're at it what are they anyway)?

This one should be really easy... But what connects it with this?

Or for that matter this...?

And last but not least this...?

Well click through here to find out the answers....

Well the answer is that these five Class 8 trucks - the Freightliner Cascadia, International LoneStar, Kenworth T660, Mack Titan and Peterbilt Model 386 have all been nominated for the first "American Truck Dealers Commercial Truck of the Year" award.

"Commercial truck manufacturing continues to make strides in innovation, advances in exterior and interior design and engine development that improves fuel economy and reduces emissions," ATD chairman Kyle Treadway tells Biglorryblog: "An award that recognises the top commercial trucks as the best in the industry is long overdue."

The winner will be announced April 19 at the ATD Convention & Expo, which will be held at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington D.C, April 18-20. And speaking as the (ahem) UK Jury Member for International Truck of the Year I' note that, just like International Truck of the Year, the US ATD award will be judged by a panel of journalists from leading truck publications in North America. And e-trucker says: "The judging criteria includes innovation, design, fuel economy, driver and owner satisfaction, ease of maintenance and safety. In 2010, two more "ATD Commercial Truck of the Year" awards will be presented: a heavy-duty truck (Class 8) and a medium-duty truck (Classes 3-7).

All of which makes me wonder, will there ever be a time when there's one global truck of the year award? What do you think - too difficult with too many diverse markets and models?

Hello,Brian and all at BigLorryBlog.
I dont mean to be a pain in the you know what, but you have listed the trucks incorrectly:
It should be,Freightliner Cascadia,International Lone Star,Peterbilt 386,Mack Titan and Kenworth T660.The Peterbilt badge is oval, just like the one Bob Tuck gave to Andrew Cooper recently. The Kenworth badge is more vertical.
The Peteerbilt looks as if its the Hy-Bred,operated by UPS Freight on its Honda contract out of Atlanta GA.
My question is where is the Volvo VN ?.
As to a global truck,it would be European,as believe me they are all far ahead technology wise, and in operation.
Have a great Easter holiday.

Hi Paul,

Well I've got the trucks if not the right order---and as I didn't have a shot of the 386 Pete I used the 386 hybrid Honda truck which you have correctly identified!
