Beunos Dias! Biglorryblog's most treasured trucking traveller and ultimate curmudgeon 'The Boss' has been out on the road again and has come back with this stunner. "Brian, great thing company image," he says, "only how much do you want to spend?"

He then adds: "For those who like it 'OTT', this French outfit is the sister of the Volvo 'Jungle Book' I pinged over to you a few weeks ago, same company, and it has all been hand painted.Expect if the artist becomes famous then drops dead they will hang the whole rig in the Tate!" Surely with that Spanish theme the Prado?

"Now for the 'Minimalist' approach" says 'The Boss. "Dean Bling's 'Temple to Chrome' without the shiny stuff would still be a smart outfit and bloggers may note, following his last appearence on BLB the trailer has been done up too, he must have made a profit!"

And last but not least The Boss offers us: "The 'Standard' by Davie Malcolm. Well I do remember when Davie first turned up in Rungis market, Paris 8 years ago with his first rig, impressive company image, and for one of Brian's (by-now stale) pies, what was Davie's inspiration back then for his colour scheme? I didn't know and as a fellow Scot Davie slagged me off. If he wants to keep up to date he will have to remove a great deal of plastic.

Out of all of them, I think Dean Bling wins it just. The Boss."

Actually there is one question BLB would dearly like to ask Davie - namely why does his trailer have the bogie set so far back?

Hi Brian, By all accounts, (Well according to Steve Rose from Gray and Adams), Davie Malcolm's trailers are built on similar lines to the Scandinavian practice with the bogie as far back as possible to give greater stability when carrying hanging beef.
The rearmost axle is a self steer and keeps the outfits inside the turning circle requirements.
I don't know if it works in practice, but the theory makes sense, there is quite a lot of weight behind the rearmost axle on a standard bogie and it does act as a pendulum, especially with a hanging load.
The extra imposed load on the 6x2 tractor no doubt helps traction, but it would make it virtually impossible to pull the loaded trailer with a 4x2 . rgds Bob

The Scandinavians use the same method of spreading trailer axles, supposedly for a smoother ride for the cargo. The rear axle is steering.
