Now here's one for the 'They don't make them like that anymore' department of Biglorryblog and I have 'The Boy Swallow' to thank for it too. Strange really considering how in the past he's harrumphed about blogs and new media etc, etc... Still we all come round in the end and he says: "I was visiting B Taylor & Sons in Mansfield and saw this in the corner - a Diamond T Model 980, built in 1948 with a Rolls Royce engine. Alan Taylor, managing director, renovated it to coincide with the opening of its new £3m warehouse facility. Alan says it's been a little while since the Diamond T has done any work but it's still operational and can move under its own steam. It's been modified a bit though during its time and it looks like a Ford D-Series cab has replaced the original....." Hey Kevin, you're beginning to sound like an anorak already! Now click through here for more....

It's funny how people tend to use other cabs to go on a restored Diamond T...I've seen them with Bedford cabins as well as others......

And here's the business end! Meanwhile, thanks KS--does this mean you've come over to the blog side?

The original diamond T cab was very small and some even had a canvas roof hence many operators later fitted a larger cab that happened to be 'kicking about the yard' , I remember one council operated truck that had gained a cab from a Ford A series 'as an improvement', many ex MOD trucks had the original American engine replaced with a Rolls Royce Diesel while they were still in military service.
