Tony Cauchi, proud resident of Malta and mate of Ashley 'The Malteaser' Lovering has sent me the perfect 'Sunday night for a pie quiz photo selection.' "Good evening Brian," he says: "It's getting hot and dusty on this side of the world and not much has been going on in the commercial lorry point of view but I stumbled across these old Brits that might be good for the blog. regards Tony." Great stuff TC and thanks...
So what are these two for a start? Now click through here fore more...
Easy one this...
And two for the rice of one to finish!

No 1 is a Morris LDM 20
No 2 is Thames 15cwt
No 3 is Ford D series not sure of model
4 is AWD in Yellow and 5 looks like a Leyland Roadtrain
Isn't Malta great and all the UK history it seems to hang onto. With single rear tyres, I think the Austin's were rated as 30cwts but it was the green Ford Thames converted pick up which caught my eye. My Dad had a van version - 15cwt type as I think there was also a 10/12cwt version. With its three speed column gearshift, I drove it at an illegal age and also have happy memories of riding on the internal bonnet with my Mam and Dad. Great stuff. Looks like a Foden S39 lurking in the background.
Bob, YOU did somehing ILLEGAL! Allocate yourself a hefty fine and six points immediately!
It sounds to me as if Bob is a bit of a poacher turned gamekeeper; who would have thought it? I too drove one of those Thames vans, but as I'm a few years older than Bob I was doing it legally! In spite of only having a 3-speed gearbox that Thames was one of the best vans around at the time, certainly much better to drive than the J2 and J4 Austin/Morris or the Standard Atlas.
