"Hi Brian", Martin 'Keeper of the Flame' Phippard writes me to say: "Seeing the picture of the Plastic Atki from Pete reminded me that we have just completed our latest DVD programme, BULK HAUL 2. This looks at some bulk operations from Australia and New Zealand and features a plastic Atki with an sweet-singing 8V92 Detroit as well as the uique Godfrey bonneted twin-steer Kenworths, the first quad-quad Argosy-Feldbinder bulk tanker unit in NZ, a hard-working B-double from Yeoval and some AB-triple side-tipping Western Stars operated by Emerald Council! And by way of contrast there's a Finnish Sisu cassette combination working in the snowy forests of Northern Finland."

This DVD programme produced under the CPP banner in conjunction with Nynehead Books is available by contacting www.nynehead-books.co.uk. And don't worry AtkiPete Lynch, your copy went in the post yesterday! Thanks and keep up the good blogging work. Martin P." And I trust I can expect a 'review copy' too?

Once again Biglorryblog is delighted to bring you a short video clip of a muscle-bound US Kenworth in what's known as a 'Great Lakes Special' double trailer configuration. The clip comes from one of Martin Phippard's splendid series of trucking DVDs -- Bulk Haul -- which is available from Nynehead Books.

Along with this Kenworth grain hauler the DVD also features Canadian and UK bulk rigs and for good measure a 194-tonne four-trailer roadtrain in Western Australia. Enjoy!

The video also features a nice shot of a Mid-Michigan Railroad locomotive (a n EMD GP38, I think - I'm sure someone can tell me!). This 'short-line' railroad had a single 26-mile stretch of track from Greenville to Elmdale, and seems to have ceased operations in 2007.

The only thing that strikes me is that the splendid rig featured in this clip wouldn't necessarily pass its annual smoke check...!

rod simmonds

Vic Hungerford

That sounds great, Martin, I ordered my copy as soon as I saw this post!

Peter Lynch

A great production there Martin. There are some nice new outfits featured but the most impressive has to be the 30 year old Aussie Atkinson still pulling double roadtrains. If you turn the volume up that 8V92T Detroit sounds an absolute delight.

Vic Hungerford

You couldn't resist that comment, could you AtkiPete!!!!!!!!!

Peter Lynch

It is only my humble opinion Vic but how many other 30 year old (approx, the Jury is still out on its exact age) trucks would still be doing roadtrain work? I spoke to Andy Arundel the other day, he has bought a later model American truck but still needs his old green Atki to get into a lot of farms.

Vic Hungerford

Very few, Pete, but then if we're all being honest there aren't too many Atkis doing it either. In NZ there would be a few S-line and T-Line Internationals, W-model KWs and R-model Macks but not many of any of them, obviously.

Hi,
Ya I was really thinking the same. Thanks for sharing it.
