What's caught this horses attention asks Biglorryblog's 'Man North 'o' the Border' John Henderson? Well click through here now... And the clue is... That thing in the foreground may have something to do with it!
Well naturally it's Eric Gillie's latest Scania horse transporter says John "Which I photographed this morning. The R480 6x2 rear steer has been in service for just five days and features an Oakley Supremacy body which can comfortably accommodate nine or ten horses, all facing their preferred way for travelling. The valuable equine cargoes are constantly monitored by CCTV and are fed and watered by state of the art systems. The thoroughbreds even have LED mood lighting in blue and white hues to keep it all as calm as possible up in the back row!"
John continues: "Driver Michael Gillie has specified a horse's legs length of extras including many items specially sourced in Europe, such as the Trux Highway Bars from Norway and a ACM windscreen stone guard from Belgium. Colin McKeever at at Spot On supplied Hella Jumbo lights and the 160 LED marker lenses fitted and the vinyl lettering was courtesy of local business, Cheviot Graphics of Kelso."
"The driver lives in some comfort too, with a huge bed above the cab and a kitchen / living area finished to a luxury home specification. Granite worktops, flat screen TV and a Webasto diesel fuelled hotplate are amongst the many nice touches. Michael's brother, Alan Gillie reckons that the truck will have to stay in service for 25 years until its mortgage is paid off! This head turning motor debuted at Truckfest North East last weekend and its next public showing should be Truckfest Scotland at Ingliston. The detail on the super Swede is remarkable and is well worth a closer look! Best regards, John.
