"BLB," he says, "Who can forget Sir Francis Drake playing bowls on Plymouth Hoe as the Spanish Armada sped towards England, finishing his game Sir Francis jumped into his offshore power boat and went and gave the Spanish a damn good thrashing, well done Sir Francis, hasn't the boat been preserved well???" Mmmm... So THAT's what the Golden Hind looked like eh?
The Boss continues: "And well done South West Truckers and friends who put on a damn good show on behalf of Muscular Dystrophy, James in his hot rod electric chair was certainly appreciative."
"Just about everybody seemed to be awarded a rather glorious cut glass piece to decorate any mantlepiece and I think Wally Balsdon's heavy hitter won several."
"But young Aidan Voysey and his dad James won best Classic for a splendid Frank Tucker ERF,7 years in restoration,I will admit I thought it was new."
"While next to it Rob's Volvo F10,previously seen in the raw on the blog has been finished splendidly and won a highly commended, excellent for a first showing."
"The West Country's finest were all on display Kays and Gardiner with not one but two new MAN units, Stocks with their very fine classic paint job and Steve Wills turned up in force winning a plate for Best Working Truck."
"Now I don't know if young Wayne Balsdon, another Yanktank lover like me tell's the truth but he did mention that the stretch Bentley might belong to a certain footballer whose wife sings a bit. A mention for Tamar Foods and to Bandvulc the tyre recyclers[a West Country based World leader doing rather well} for their support and to the Big Man above for making the weather just right. Well,I don't normally do Truck shows but South West Truckers and friends have done an excellent job and all in a good cause, Thanks to you all. The Boss."
And from BLB too. And here (in no particular order are the rest of the old codger's shots... You know I think he's getting quite good at this photography lark... (Must have had a good teacher).
Back end of that immaculate F10.
Is that Sir Francis in the background taking an interest in the Cormish Maggie?
Do I take it that's Plymouth Hoe? or is it Ho? (Don't ask me I live in Kent!)
One of The Boss's beloved Yank tanks...
'Wild Thing' indeed!
Sorry Tony but I do think the Foden styling on the Daf cab is better than the Daf styling on the Daf cab... Heresy I know!
Two tax discs one from sep 68... Probably out of date by now I'd say... Other one is up to 2010. Meanwhile, The Boss throws out a pie challenge. "How much do you think the Bedford RL Road Tax cost in 1968?" Answer at the very end...
The aforementioned Steve Wills fleet... Very smart.
Classy little six-wheeler too...
Nice old style FH.
Great place to park up trucks... Why not turn it into a truckstop?!
Weather certainly was good...
Smart eight-legger with an insulated body.
Glad to see an ERF sneaking in...
And that's your lot! And thanks to the The Boss... Even if my wrists and elbows are aching! And the answer to the piue quiz was a thundering £33.10 shillings. Corr... Highway Robbery!

Hi Brian, I think you'll find that the 'Bentley' is a fraud. I reckon its actually a Chrysler 300C with a Bentley grill bodged on!
Yeah, Neil is right. You see that kind of fake Bentley junk on 300C's all the time over here on this side of the pond.
To all (just to put record straight)
The "Bentley" is a Chrysler and the grille is a chrysler grille not a poorly fitted Bentley grille. How do I know ?? cos I work at Bentley in Crewe and our grille cost more the the Chrysler to Buy (Well probably) !!!
