I thought it was long overdue that we had a big wrecker on Biglorryblog. And the fact that Widnes-based, Hough Green Garage has increased its fleet of HGV recovery vehicles with another prestigious Volvo truck provides BLB with the perfect excuse to have one. The new 6x4 Volvo FH-520, with 14-speed manual gearbox has been added to complement HGG's other heavy recovery vehicles, including two other Volvo trucks - a flagship Volvo FH16 and a Volvo FM. And for all you recovery anoraks HHG's latest FH has a Boniface Recoverer Trident with side winders. The side winders allow the vehicle to be stabilised and work in confined spaces and single lanes whilst being able to winch from the side. Its 30 ton top recovery boom and 3 winches not only enables Hough Green to recover HGV's from the side of the road after a breakdown or accident, but also allows them to recover trucks from more arduous situations where lifting or winching equipment is required.
