AtkiPete is back on Biglorryblog with some excellent, exclusive 'SCOOP' news!!!! They've started to build Atkinsons again in Australia...(well Pete is anyway). "G'day Brian," he says in that chirpy manner we've all come to love..."albeit on a (slightly) smaller scale than the 'good old days' of the '60s and '70s---but big news all the same!" I'll say.

"I just got hold of this great resin cabin kit from 'The Backyard Shed' in Scarsdale (Oz) and am hoping to put together a model of Noel Herrod's tri-drive Atkinson. Anoraks will notice that I am missing am few minor bits, wheels, chassis, engine, bullbar etc---but these should not be too hard to get hold of! Cheers Pete." And to see a classic Aussie Atkinson roadtrain click through here now!

That's what I call a REAL moving experience and thanks Pete. For any UK model enthusiasts who might fancy setting up an 'overseas CKD assembly operation' does the shop you bought your kit from have a website?

I found these on E bay while doing my every day search for Atki parts Search "aussie atkinson 3800" When Pete and myself bought these one other was left but I sure that the backyard shed will cast more.
It will be a while before I start mine still I have made a number of resin cab models from caster's all over the world. This one is what we where using 10 years ago in so far as the modern kits provide photo ecthed wiper arms shinnie grill parts and a complex plan of suggested doner truck kits and mount's etc.
I believe old mate is casting some one other modeller's master which is not undone in the hobbie industry and no problem. At first inspection the kit I recieved is crisp well defined lines, good cast with little clean up few sink wholes nice work.
Most of all I'm thrilled to get well an Atki but most of all a real Ozie truck to work on. I have the Kit form services Pommie Atki with a hope to convert in to an Aust Mayne Nick.
Bottom line not for first time modellers theres a lot to learn about glues and using resin sourcing bits but you know the kits big boys dont make many trucks and dont think this subject matter would get of the ground so to speak.
Digging oz outta debt

Hi there it's good to see the big A's have gone but have not been forgotten, as I am a collector. I have 6 in my personal collection. I am a bit of a Atkinson nut. I am interested in the models that you have. I also have a collection of old information and photographs.
