On July 28, 1949 Daf Trucks delivered its very first truck, when the new range comprised the 3-ton A30 and this 5-ton A50.
In the sixty intervening years, highlights of the Daf brand have included the first turbocharger in 1959, followed in 1973 by the first use of charge-cooling. Landmark models include the 1962 2600 range, arguably the first big cab designed specifically for international long-haul operation.

Along the way, Daf has collected three International Truck of the Year awards, as well as a new owner, Paccar, and an iconic British asset, Leyland.

I remember the inside of that 2600 DAF cab. Used to go over the water in one. I remember it used to struggle over the Blanc but had a good turn of speed on the flat (pre tacho days).
The bunks were just a metal frame with rubber slats between them but I was a little more sylph like in those days, not sure they would support the bulk these days.
I will dig out the pics of it and post them up
