Massimo Pezza has sent me some more pictures of ex-Eastern Bloc military kit he found at a museum in the Czech Republic starting off with this hefty eight-wheeler...anyone know what it is? Interesting that middle axles are closer together...

MT Andrzej Bakowski

Praga, GAZ and MAZ (possibly)

Starting from bottom we have:

1. a Praga V3S 6x6 (similar to the one whose picture was posted 2 days ago).

2. Two pictures of a bonneted Russian-bulit trucks show a petrol-engined GAZ 51 4x2 lorry. The script on the side of the bonnet reads "Gorky Motor Works (Gorkovsky AvtoZavod - hence GAZ).

3. The big 8-wheeler is possibly a MAZ of sorts, used as a missile transporter/launcher.

Hope this sheds some light.

Have a nice evening!

MT massimo.pezza

probably is a russian Baz 135

The eight wheeler is a scud missile launch vehicle - much famed for being found in the North of Iraq in 1991. The blast shield is resting neatly on the roof of the cab.

Mariusz Koscinski

When it comes to the eightwheeler I would rather say it's MZKT, also trading as Volat, as even those Russian multi-axle intercontinental missile carriers are made by them. Even a cab is similar apart from being split in two...

Two stroke

It says Grokey Auto Works.. on the side of the bonnet
