Thanks to the ever-helpful John Walsh at Mack Trucks Biglorryblog is able to bring you this magnificent commemorative American artic which was recently specially prepared to remind Americans on the recent Fourth of July celebrations that freedom comes at a high price. Which is why this custom-decorated MACK Pinnacle tractor took its place in the annual 'Rolling Thunder - Ride for Freedom Rally' to honor
The Pinnacle's custom-designed graphic wrap highlights the sacrifices made by US servicemen and women and this was the sixth year a Mack from the NRV has played a part in this observance. And here's a close-up of the wrap-work

All of which got me thinking--if Volvo and Mack can commemorate their servicemen and women on a truck why can't we Brits? The Australians recently did a similar thing with this stunning 'Remembrance' Kenworth.
And click through here for more on this topic....and some thoughts from BLB on the subject.

Rod Simmonds kindly sent me these shots some time ago which features a tribute to Australian servicemen and women. Rod advised me that the artwork commemorates their armed forces participation in conflicts from WW1 up to and including Vietnam.
And what a stunning vehicle it is too complete with the Aussie flag over the bonnet of the Kenworth....

And a fantastic moving memorial it is too. So I ask once again why hasn't anyone done something like that over here in a 'Land fit for Heroes'? Or have they?
If those operators who regularly appear at Truckfest are looking for a decent theme for the airbrushing on their next truck to show at Peterborough then maybe this will give them food for thought. Scenes from the Battle of Britain, Dunkirk, El Alamein, Burma, The Battle of the Atlantic, Normandy....surely they're all worthy of being commemorated on a truck? What do you think?

The owner of that T904's wife's father was the inspiration for the air-brush work on the truck!
