Bert De Vuyst has picked up the recent Brazilian theme ball and is clearly going to run with it much to the delight of Biglorryblog! "Hello Brian," he says, "Here some pictures of VW Brazil products. Two vans (yes, these are new vehicles) And some proper VW trucks. Cheers, Bert." First one above shows the VW heavy range based on the old MAN G90/VW LT shared cab shell.

While here's the latest Constellation Titan powered by a Cummins engine. Since MAN took over the VW truck plant where Constellation is built it will be interesting to see what happens to it..now click through here for more...

Another Constellation Titan [picture (albeit heavily photoshopped). I like the cab--amidst a wrold where everything looks the same to me this really stands out as different. Bit like a Multipla really...!

Another G90/LT cab-based Brazilian beastie...makes for a compact mixer.

They still make thr Kombi over there...that's as much camping as I'm prepared to do though.

Last but not least a brazilian VW pickup... Wonder what it's based on? Anyone have any idea? And thanks Bert!
Great stuff Bert! Have you any idea what size engine is in that Constellation B-train tanker? I would hazard a guess of around 55-tonnes gross for the combination so I would imagine you would need 500-hp or therabouts? Thanks.
The top range engine in the Constellation is a 9.354L / 370bhp enigne. You can have a 320bhp Cummins engine. The weight limit for a B-train is 57 tonnes in Brazil.
You can use 74 tonnes trucks in Brazil. The 520bhp Volvo looks like the king of the hill in Brazil (Scania sells a 500bhp V8, Mercedes a 428bhp engine)
The pickup might be based on the santana/passat platform from the '80.
The Constellation is available with either a little Cummins 8.3-liter ISC 320hp engine or a MWM-International (Navistar) 9.3-liter 370hp engine (basically an International HT-570/Maxxforce 10 with more fuel turned to it). None are big engines, but then again, the Constellation is a small truck. I was really surprised at Hannover 2008 to see just how small it is. But then again, that's the South America size.
Thanks for the information gents. I take it the 74-tonners are the twin trailer 'road trains' Bert. They were around a while before the
B-trains, rather like the situation in Australia back in the 1980s!
Since MAN has bought VW commercial vehicles bussines, VW has no plan to make bigger trucks. That trucks will be made by MAN in Brazil, with engines MAN, by Cummins ou MWM-International 9.6 l under license.
VW Trucks was the first trucks made by VW around the world. It began in early 80's, when VW has bougth DOGDE factory in Brazil and this produced trucks. That was the base for the first trucks of VW, until VW develops itself in stuff.
btw "VW Saveiro" pickup is based on VW Gol G5
