For all you Aussie and Kiwi members of BLB's anorak army I know you've been fretting about how New Zealand's favourite son (Vic Hungerford) have been managing in this little old backwards island of ours...So I thought the above shot of 'The old Vic' in a Guy should reasure you that he and his wife Val haven't been eaten by wild animals!

Indeed, Vic's been spending time with Rich 'The Brochure King' Stanier and his immaculate Guy--and click through here to see the latest message from the travelling duo..

"Well, I've managed to find my way to Stanier Towers," says Vic. "Home of Richard, the Brochure King. I'm now sitting amongst a beautifully organised collection of brochures, all filed away under Rich's own unfathomable system. He obviously must have a photographic memory to be able to find things as quickly as we all know he can." yes I've got a phtographic meory too Vic..only it isnt' quite 'developed'....
Ignoring that awful pun Vic continues: "Yesterday he took me out to see one of his lorries, a Guy Big J which has a Gardner 6LXB engine and 9-speed Roadranger gearbox. It was parked in a huge shed with lots of other Guy trucks and buses of all ages, and after a fair bit of manoevring we managed to get it out into the open. It started instantly although it was some time since it had been going and I was lucky enough to be allowed to drive it; we got it up to its maximum speed of 56mph easily and it went like a dream; thanks for the opportunity, Rich, it was greatly appreciated. The Big J was never imported into NZ although there were a number of its predecessor, the Guy Invincible in the country, and this was the first Big J I had ever seen, so it was a great time for me."
Good stuff Vic and by the time you read this he and Val will have made their way up to 'Wor Bobby'---yes Mr Classic himself Bob Tuck. So I expect a full report from another meeting of the minds!
