And you thought Charlie Russell's Scania was a cracker...? Well just take a look at this beauty too. I am grateful to Fred Everiss for sending me these shots of a cracking restoration. Fred says: "Hi Biglorryblog, please find some details of my Scania LB111 4x2 Dutch spec AIR SUSPENSION (oh yes she's on AIR) direct from the factory and Scania say its one of the first..."

IMGP1165[1].JPG

Fred continues: "Scania fitted it to the last 1 Series to trial it before fitting to the 2 Series, so the last 1 had it and the first 2 Series didn't. As you can see from the first owner [see overr] he needed it, I am the 3rd owner."

Now click through here for more and the complete history of this magnificent motor...

Fred adds: "Would love it if you could put it in the blog - always read it it's great." Aww shucks guys... I don't know what to say. Anyway Fred says: "She's still working today not just for show. Worked for Graham Gilder Pedigree Livestock for 18 years all over Europe and beyond! PS: Can we start a question going BRING BACK THE 'SUPER' badge on the Scania trucks...?"

IMGP1245[1].JPG

Good question too Fred! Funnily enough I did a blog on the same subject not that long ago and I recall someone posting a comment to say that you can still get the badge as aftermarket item..although I think he said it was through Dutch Scania dealers. Anyroadup I'll see what I can find out - I'll consult the oracle - i.e. Scania's technical manager and my old mate Clive Burnet.

Meanwhile, Fred has also very kindly sent me this potted history of his big swede starting with owner number one...

Before bringing us full circle. And well done Fred and Stuart for a superb restoration and for Fred, Stuart and Graham for keeping the flame burning. Outstanding job guys!
