Last one for tonight blog fans...and once again it's all down to Don at the wonderful Adclassix site who has graciously allowed me to feature the odd image or two from the world's best retro site for old and new truck, van, pickup and 4x4 and also car ads----and don't take my word for it go and see for yourself using this handy BLB webblink www.adclassix.com/truckindex.htm

Anyroadup here are a few more from the adclassix collection. Frankly I can't get enough of them and you can buy the original ads from the site as well...And I didn't even kn ow Studebaker made pick-up trucks either...did you? And how about 'job-rated Dodge Trucks? now click through here for one more..

Ahhh...Bisto...err....REO! Anyone like to take a punt as to what year this is from? And don't forget the website at http://www.adclassix.com/

The Reo is 50s but I am not sure about the chances of that Dodge pulling a bogie pan. These only had a flathead six petrol engine with a V8 in later years.
Says right at the top! June 15, 1946 ... or 1948; I can't quite make it out.
Sorry, Brian, but I just have to comment on your blog about AdClassix. I am surprised that you promote this outfit (once again). I have been a staunch collector of all sorts of truck related lit all of my life and I do have many of the ads featured. However, I would never dare to ask 20 to 50 dollars for such 'original' advertisements as AdClassix like to call them. Because they are not. Most of their offered ads are simply pages torn from magazines like Time, Saterday Evening Post, etc.
Hi Niels,
Thanks for the comment. I can see your point of view. From my own perspective the reason why I like the site is because it is such an excellent store house of old truck ads, in fact of old ads full stop! Whether or not you want to buy them. I also can't think of anyone else who is doing this and therefore think the site is worthwhile for both browsing and buying (if you want a permanent hard version) . But I guess that's just my opinion and I welcome all feedback. But what I would say is that I found things on AdClassix, like the GM gas turbine truck advert that I wouldn't have found anywhere else---and I did look elsewhere!
I suppose if Adclassix is running a website that you can look at all this stuff for free,it would be only fair for them to be able to sell them.Money does make the world go around unfortunatly.
It's nice to look at these ads and remember the "good old days". But I'd rather have the actual pictures of the trucks shown in the ads.
