OK clever clogs...what's this? Typical 90s artic interior but who made it? AMoreover, what's so special about it..? And if you give up already (and if you have then you're not much of an anorak) you'll find the answer by clicking through here....

And the answer is..it's the interior of this, the Foden 4000 Hi-Line day cab tractor which offered a whole 300mm extra headroom...oooooooh than the previous flat room day cab. Buit of course you prefer something a bit sexier from Elworth so how about this?

4380 6x2 Hi-Line sleeper with a mid-lift axle--can't remember whether it was Granning or someone else's. But for a real trip down memory lane (or was it Red Moss Lane?)how about this?

The original caption for this reads: Foden trucks will be exhibiting an 8x4 rigid and Hi-Line 4x2 tractor at the Geneva Show in January 1992...both units move more payload, more often and with maximum safety. The trucks give unrivalled performance and excellent journey times on the severe gradients found in Alpine terrain." Mmmm...I guess that little export drive didn't exactly prove to be a winner... now did it?

"Mmmm...I guess that little export drive didn't exactly prove to be a winner... now did it?"
It did in New Zealand, Brian, we have Alps over here too, you know!!
....... And at least one Swiss Operator (Frederici, I think they are called- Martin P will know better than I) bought them.
Well, perhaps not entirely a lost cause - they did sell some 4000s to Friederici, didn't they?
Actually Brian you are wrong. There was considerable success in Switzerland.
They liked the eight-leggers as they suited their silly axle weight rules.
There was a mob who were called Federici or Frederici (or something like that) who had a whole fleet of them
The comment that if Fodens (or anything else, presumably) were any good, then they would sell in volume & still be made, makes the vey big assumption that life is a level playing field, & that everything is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.
Fair enough, if that's what you believe.
