Cam in Queensland has sent Biglorryblog this curious phto regarding the ongoing restoration of his mighty REO tractor. "Hi Brian,this is the standard White/Diamond T/Diamond Reo/Reo pedal arrangment with the accelerator in the middle.I can assure you it takes a bit of getting used to.See ya,Cam." My 1936 Bonneted Leyland Beaver has the same pedal arrangement as did quite a few pre-WW2 vehicles. Makes down-shifts under braking soooo much easier, as with your foot on the brake pedal, your heel is naturally positioned right over the loud pedal

As Bruce says, this pedal arrangement was reasonably common up until the 1940s, both on passenger cars and commercial vehicles. Swapping between different vehicles occasionally had its moments but it was something you got used to, except in emergency situations!

It was a bit like swapping between British and Japanese motorbikes, I suppose.
