Once again Biglorryblog is deeply indebted to Brian 'Mr Foden' Lomas who, having seen my comments on Syd Bishop Demolition (who was a big Foden operator and whose trucks sported the legend 'Watch it come down!') has leapt into action and sent me some shots of Syd's finest. Brian adds: "Syd would be proud of you!" Well it's all down to your photo archives Brian! Now click through here for one more...

'Watch it come down!' times two! And for a breakfast pie what are the Foden models featured in Brian's photo? And I wonder where the shot was taken..somewhere in London or the Soputh East for sure.

Those two Fodens with the huge (and not very good) 11 inch headlights have S83 cabs and would be about 1976 models.
I would say they are S80'S
I think they are S83 models, Alan. The S80 model, with a very similar cab, had a big version of the Foden kite on the grille, in NZ anyway. Maybe Brian Lomas could confirm or deny this??
Im sure that's the S80 cab. Horace Kendrick ran a fleet of them in my early grease monkey day's,when i was working in Northcote St Walsall for Boden Transport.
Brian, I still think the pie belongs to me! Although I have been known to be wrong occasionally !!!!!!!, I am sure that those Fodens have S83 cabs, not S80 ones. The 2 cabs were almost identical outside except that the S80 had the traditional kite mark with the word Foden in script, whereas the S83 had no kite mark and Foden in capitals with a small kite in the letter "O". The difference between the 2 cabs was mainly internal, with the S83 being much improved over the older S80.
Brian Lomas, where are you when we need you? Or maybe Rich Stanier with your brochures?
I'm with Vic on this one! The Foden logo is definitely the one used on S83s, & who would remove the kite & signature & replace with the block letter logo? And the S83 is mounted about one & a half inches higher than the S80. (Or maybe 4cm!) The height difference can be seen between the top of the 11" headlamp & the crease above it which lines up with the floor/bottom of the doors. Sad, but true!
