Hello, what's going on here? Why it's someone putting AdBlue in a truck..but wait a miniute... 'gasp'.....that's an AMERICAN truck! And he's not wearing a full protective, flameproof, diving suit to do it either! Surely that can't be happening...? Well click through here for the full story from Biglorryblog...

As ever I'm grateful to Volvo Trucks North America's PR Wallah Jm McNamara for alerting me to the fact that VTNA recently demonstrated diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) dispensing equipment in Greensboro, N.C., using one of its' EPA2010-ready trucks. The production-level truck (and for a pie who can tell me what it is?) was built online at the New River Valley Plant in Dublin, Virginia. The DEF (it's what they call AdBlue and we all know as urea) dispensing equipment was manufactured by Gilbarco Veeder-Root, another Greensboro-based company and the leading global supplier of fuel-dispensing equipment. That's handy, having a DEF station just down the road from the main assembly plant.
Meanwhile, I'm sure I'm not alone in noticing how quickly US-truck makers (well most of them anyway) have turned away from exhaust gas recirculation to embrace selective catalytic reduction and AdBlue, sorry diesel exhaust fluid . But then to be fair they've had little option in order to meet the forthcoming EPA 2010 emission regs which many, including my old mate and blogging co-evil Oliie Dixon, see as the US equivalent/forerunner of the next Euro-6 standard over this side of the pond. Naturally, Ollie has been following the story with great interest (and even greater harrumphing) and click through here to see his latest posting on the topic http://www.roadtransport.com/blogs/world-trucks-blog/ says clue: It involves Navistar...
