Last one for today...so I thought it was about time Biglorryblog provided you with some pictures of the superb Pierce Manufacturing tractor drawn fire truck. And as you all know Pierce is one of the manufacturing divisions within the Oshkosh Corporation. Fire engines don't get much better than this..or do they? Click through here for a full 'Velocity' fire truck!

And here it is the wonderful (and rather scary looking too)  Pierce Velocity fire truck featuring 'Praying Mantis'-style mirrors too--so don;t let anyone tell you these coach-style mirrors can't be fitted to a truck, because they can...and the Americans have done it.

And finally here's a fascinating shot from the Oshkosh media site showing simulated roll-over crash test for a Pierce fire truck. I say fascinating because of the way they're going about it--i.e. fixing the truck on a leaning platform at an angle then running the impact sled into it. Works for me and probably cheaper (and more repeatable) than trying to topple it over a cliff! I've never seen it done like this before..is it comon practice?
