"Hello," says david Morgan. "Sorry I don`t have a 'blog' but a plea----where on earth can I find an old copy ( any year 1959-1965 and literally any condition) of the 'ABC Goods Transport Guide'? I retired 5 years ago after 40+ yrs running a road haulage co. and we used to have this publication in the 60`s for drivers and we office staff to find return loads, etc. I have literally tried every avenue known to me from RHA, adverts in lorry mags, ebay, you name it....no success. They were replaced annually, so we always binned the old ones, hence I doubt any still exist .Now I`ve found yourr site I`m open to your suggestions. Best wishes David Morgan." Well can anyone help David--if so post up a comment.
Meanwhile I thought you'd like an early picture of Bob Tuck on patrol...and click through here for one more...

What's Geordie for "I say my man..you really can't have that goods vehicle repaired on the side of the carriageway you know! Please arrange for its prompt removal"

Sorry Brian, that wasn't my era although these are super shots - from Northamptonshire? I started on patrol at West Hartlepool with a Panda in 1967 (a little 'E' reg Mini van) and my first black & white patrol car was an 'H' reg Austin 1800S 'Land Crab' which only did 84mph flat out.
As a coincidence, in my car transporter days, we did deliver black Ford Zephyr patrol cars to West Yorkshire I think. The model called the Dagenham Disaster.
The best patrol car I ever had was the Triumph 2.5 PI of 1975 vintage - a cracker.
I can't help David where to get an ABC guide. I have one from about 1962 I think, but sorry I don't want to part with it. Although one should never say never.
