'OK so it's a Scania name badge...but what's so special about that Biglorryblog?' I hear you ask. Ahhh but look closely. This isn't just any Scania name badge..not it's a Marks & Spencer Scania name badge with...err hold on... that's not right NO! look at the badge and see the lovely bit of airbrushed detailing showing a tractor and harrow on the 'N' and 'A' and if you click through you'll find a terrific Biglorryblog-approved heavy hitter with a nice bit of bling and a very capable 'Young Gun' too!

Well the story all starts with the news that agricultural and construction plant equipment supplier R.J & K.D McLean has taken delivery of a new Andover Trailers tri-axle step-frame trailer which will be used to transport everything from tractors and horticultural equipment to diggers and dumper trucks from its base in Dorset to customers around the UK. And it will be in the hands of one of the country's youngest HGV drivers. Robert McLean, director of R.J & K.D McLean tells Biglorryblog: "We purchased our step frame trailer as we are moving a lot of our haulage requirements in-house, so this is a long-term investment for our business. The trailer is being used to transport a variety of heavy equipment and gives us additional business flexibility. We intend to keep the trailer for at least 10 years, so need something that is durable and opted for Andover Trailers as they have a reputation for quality and reliability."

However, the SFCL 40's custodian is actually Robert's son George---that's him in front with Robert behind---aged 21, who qualified as an HGV driver at the age of 18 through the Department for Transport's Young LGV (HGV) Driver Scheme, obtaining a full Category C driving licence at the age of 18 and a Category C+E licence at 19 - making him one of the UK's youngest HGV drivers in the country.

And he's going to use a very smart Scania V8 R560 6x2 tag tractor to pull it too. Corr..talk about spoiled I never got one of those from my Dad! (But then he was an accountant so probably wouldn't have had much need for a V8 Scania anyway...)

But I digress. The Topline Swede comes complete with a very nice airbrush scene complete with a red Massey Ferguson tractor on the back and vertical pipes and all the usual heavy-hitter whistles and bells you've come to expect on BLB.
Meanwhile, I'm told the t
he new trailer has been built to R.J & K.D McLean's bespoke specifications, which includes a low profile neck, slide out rear ramps and slide out side extensions with slide out ramp channel. Robert adds: "The design team worked closely with us to put together a bespoke specification that meets the unique needs of our business but also delivered within our budget. Everyone in the company who has used the trailer has noted how easy it is to work with and its great on-road performance."

"We're very proud of the trailer and tractor unit that have both created a lot of interest from customers and prospects as they look so unique," concludes
Robert....though not as proud as George to drive it I'll bet!
