Having recently postred up his pictures of the mighty Kirovec tractor Andrzej Lazar has sent me this shot from Spotters.net.un of one doing some hard work towing a rather large plane....and for a pie what is it? Meanwhile, Andrzej says, "the plane weighs 100,000kg empty---do you think a 'Western' tractor could pull it? Meranwhile click throguh here for links to more interesting Russian sites...
"Today I found a couple more interesing photos of the Kirovec in action
including a rare special 6x6 'truck' version http://www.avtorinok.ru/photo/Kirovec_6x6_model_6488.html

(In ther USSR and Poland the most popular version was the K701 with V12-300HP engine on 28R26 tyres----the original photo I sent BLB is maybe a K701(because of the 28R26 tyres).
http://www.oldrussiancars.com/category/tractors/k-701/ (on that site they say its 266hp but in USSR magazines from the '80s they only wrote about the 300hp V12 version)"
Il 76 Candid?
looks like an Ilyushin Il-78
can i have a pie?
The plane is an Ilyushin IL-76.

Hi. I'm Timo from oldrussiancars.com web-site. It was my mistake that I wrote K-701 has 266 hp, actually its 266 kw which is about 300 hp. Only K-700A had less powerful 203 hp engine.
Anyway I remember these trucks from 15-20 years ago. There was some modification done in the gearbox that allowed them to go 50-60 km/h on the road (I'm not sure how exactly it was done, but I was told so, I was a child then). Anyway I've seen them travelling at that speed. This is crazy :)
