Rod Simmonds in New Zealand has been following the Kiwi Oshkosh thread on Biglorryblog and offers the following for your perusal...

And it's started me wondering...what engine choice could you get in an Oshkosh cabover tractor?

Good stuff Rod and thanks...

Rod continues: "Anyone travelling between Auckland and Hamilton would of seen a bright red painted Oshkosh resplendent in LEP International branding.

John Predergast works for the Hamilton base of the Mainfreight Group on general freight daily between Hamilton and Auckland. This model has had a useful and varied life since being put on the road in 1977. Now powered by a forgiving CAT 3306 270hp and 13 speed Roadranger gearbox it easily handles the daily run often at less than maximum weight. John freely admits he is happy cruising along in his old girl 'lone wolf' and hopes to get a few more years out of her before either he or the truck retires."

Generally speaking if you`ve got an Oshkosh, your engine chioce is Caterpillar, unless your not a fan of Caterpillar motors, then the other chioce would be Caterpillar. However,I recall reading that the K1W1`s bought a swag of those little cab overs less the running gear and put Detriots in them.
