AtkiPete Lynch continues his truckie tour of NZ with a new sslection of vintage and classic Kiwi kroozers. "G'day Brian, from my recent trip to the South Island of NZ, a real lorry spotter's paradise.Part of our group on the truck run, your serious Anoraks should be able to identify these lorries." The one above Pete captions as: "heading home for a nightcap!" So what can you identify?

"Part of the amazing Bill Richardson collection of vintage trucks at Invercargill in NZ. There are over 200 trucks here, hard to take it all in with one visit." What a collection Pete... Astonishing to find so many under one roof. (or indeed ANY roof!)

"One of the more unusual exhibits in the Richardson collection is this coupe built on an Inter C1 light truck chassis, one of six built by IH New Zealand for their sales reps."

Foden_heavy_truck[1].jpg

"A heavy Foden, recently donated to the Richardson collection.  Not sure of the exact model but your Foden experts will know. Cheers Pete."

Now you will probably not believe me, but in New Zealand there is a town called Nightcaps and that is where we were heading at this stage. I do recall a few nightcaps much later that day when we were parked up at a place called Tuatapere.

There's a truck show in Invercargill on the 25th of October Pete if you're still down there...

The 3rd truck in that 2nd pic from the top looks like an IHC Paystar 5000.

The top photo has a KM Bedford in front, then an International 3070 (I think, although the numbers on the grille don't look like 3070) then a "Butterbox" International ACCO.

The Foden has an S20 cab with a "tropical" radiator.

Good to see the ex-Mobil Atkinson with the NZ designed and built Taylor Hull cab; I have driven many miles in one just like that.

Well done lads, I hadn't seen a Paystar before and think that one deserves a bonus pie. Back home now so will unfortunately will miss the Invercargill truck show. Hopefully one of BLB's local Anoraks will be there with camera in hand.

Hi Pete

We had one of those Paystars (called a 5070) for a long time, used on heavy haulage and normal artic duties. It was sold a few years ago, had the chassis lengthened and is still used as a rigid tipper.

I won't be at the Invercargill show - too far away - but there is a private one on in Auckland that weekend where the guy who owns the Leader water tanker shown on BLB a while ago is displaying all his collection of old trucks plus some others. I'll be there!
