Hello, what's going on here? Well I can tell you that 'the Boss' is back on Biglorryblog with new of some new trailer tyres he's been trying out. "BLB, is this the missing link? Charles, whose trailer I pull, has just purchased and had fitted on my rig 6x 'Carlos Fandango Fats' or if you really prefer 6 x Michelin X One Maxitrailer 455 x 45 R 22.5s. These to my knowledge have just come on the market and Michelin are selling the Fats on supposedly 50% more mileage at 20% more cost which should fluctuate depending on the value of the £ pound.
Having run with these tyres for a week Michelin would do well to consider changing its' sales pitch.these tyres should be sold as offering stability with a capital 'S'" What's this? Our loveable old curmudgeon has found something he atually likes... Surely not? But yes, it's indeed true... So and click through here to read what else he thinks about them...
The Boss continues: "The ride height has been lowered by 3 inches, the wheelbase has been increased by 6 inches and the footprint has been increased by 3 inches width. My lowly opinion (for what it is worth) is that Michelin have produced a Formula 1 tyre for the road haulage industry! On the autoroute it is just another tyre, i.e. round and black. But to save money I always go cross-country when I can, and taking my usual 50-mile money saver this tyre blew me away, Tres Magnifique!"
"This tyre taken to the limit, (for test purposes only, so don't tell Charles) for instance on bends, roundabouts and even across the motorway central reservation at a roadworks just had the trailer sitting like a big fat Buddha, it did not budge, not even so much as a small roll! Now I have till recently been doing hanging meat for over 25 years (always an 'interesting' ride!) but I believe this tyre is the best invention for the meat haulage industry since the hook. And dare I say with the BBC reporting so many rollovers each day on its traffic news, a lot more should consider this tyre. I can tell you because I do the same trip each week, almost, and that this tyre carries no fuel penalty and I was surprised on the last 4-hour stretch homeward, almost all cross-country this tyre helped reduce journey time by almost half an hour. Although I don't think Maggie liked it very much - it certainly woke her up! One little prob might exist, according to a little bird, I am told it is not an easy tyre to change by the side of the road so it might do to carry a spare. But then, nothing in life is ever perfect. And just in case you think this is a Michelin advert, Maggie wears Bridgestones and I couldn't give a damn what anyone does - but this tyre is good enough to consider. The Boss."
Well how about that for an endorsement? Wonder if anyone else rates the new Michelin boot as well?

I believe Chris Corden Michelin sold these and has told me all about them.
