Having seen a previous post on JST Services from Bob Tuck Nick Garlick says: "Brian, here are a couple of the whole JST rig complete with load. Fantastic heavy hauler.
Regards, Nick." And click through here to see more of that the load on the back...
And what on earth is that thing on the back..?
The thing on the back is a port handling rig for unloading timber from ships holds. The cab can raise up so the operator can see over the side of the ship into the hold and can grab the timber(cut trees) with the big grab on the end of the arm(from the JST website!)
Hi Brian,
Its a Liebherr 944 Hydraulic Excavator, of which this model is expressly made for Cargo Handling specifically loading and unloading timber or pulp into the hold of ships. For that purpose it has a hydraulically lifted cab so that the Operator can see over the side of the ship and a large capacity hydraulic grab and rotator for ease of loading.
Please publish my comments on Vietnamese trucks listed last week.
Kind Regards

I think its a material handler designed for loading ships with scrap metal not 100% positive though
As far as I know there are barges with timber being unloaded in Ayr harbour. It might be that JST Services runs the whole operation and this is one of their barge unloaders. It definetly looks like one having a log graple with rotator, "goosneck" mounted cab, long main boom and wheels suitable only for movements on hard surfaces...
I'd hazard a guess and say it's a log grabber, although I'm sure it has a fancy technical name.
I think the machine is a log grabber with a long boom to enable the loading of timber into cargo ships. I have seen similar kit at work at the Port of Ayr.
Does anyone know if JST still have their Terberg or the big S26 Scammell? I've not caught either of these impressive lorries for a while.
