And what better way to celebrate 30 years in business than for Norfolk-based Carter Haulage & Storage to take delivery of a new Volvo FH-460? The truck was handed over personally by a representative from supplying dealer Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia at Ely - together with a bottle of champagne for owner and founder Peter Carter and a bouquet of flowers for his wife, Louise. Oii Reg what about the workers?..I could go for a bottle of bubbly too you know!
Anyroadup I learn that the Euro-5 compliant tractor has an I-Shift auto and its Globetrotter cab is finished in 'Prestige' trim, featuring a refrigerator, CD player and climate control system. It joins nine other Volvos on the Carter fleet. "We've been running Volvo since day one," Peter tells BLB. "We started in 1979 with an F7 - a very good truck! Volvo continue to offer quality; they're one of the best trucks on the market. Driver opinion is very important to us, and our drivers certainly rate Volvo highly. At the moment, Volvo also represents the best deal from a business perspective."
Peter's working relationship with his local Volvo dealer is another key reason for his adherence to the brand. "We've always had good service from them, and our relationship goes back to when they were still Duffield's. Some of the people there have been with us since we set out. For our 25th anniversary, they laid on a trip to Sweden. Presenting the new truck on the actual day of our anniversary this year - October 1st - was their idea. The champagne and flowers were typical of them, a personal touch that really makes a difference!"
And Reg, regading the bubbly, you've got the address right mate?
