Hi Brian The Clffe Plant F16 had a couple of owners afterwards, H E Services and Heanor Haulage, but I haven't seen it in recent years. It was involved in a rail accident at one point , but was rebuilt after the train hit it.
It was a special build project at the Volvo Irvine plant, they fitted the second steer axle and the non-standard ZF torque converter box and made a dam good job of it by all accounts.
The Brown and Mason FH16 is with a showman in the Bristol area, it pulls a very heavy fairground ride and is often parked on the ring road off the M32

The Cliffe 8x4 F16 was Swedish built. Today Volvo are able to offer an FH16 or FH with a tridem air suspended pusher bogie direct from the factory. In black it makes a wonderful model.

Hi Brian, I would never argue with John, but somewhere in the back of my mind I remember being told that Irvine had at least a hand in finishing it off. They definately built a series of FH 16 6x6 tractors with ZF boxes for the Israeli Army not long before the plant closed.
