Seeing Tony MIller's two-headed tunnel washer reminded me of a previous Biglorryblog story I posted up some time ago and it features this twin-cabbed pushme-pullyou MAN fire truck that works in the Mont Blanc tunnel.. ..I can't recall whether it has two engines as well but I do remember that it went equally fast in either direction....if any BLB MAN buffs know more about it do post up a comment..now click through here for more shots of it in action....

It can put out blazes in either direction as this shows--it has a spray bar and a foam monitor too...

Must turn on a sixpence..although the reason for having two cabs is that it doesn't have to turn around in the tunnel...

I can remember something about an emergency truck for the Severn Rail Tunnel operated by Avon Fire Service. this was a Renault 6x4 curtainsider which had bimode rail wheels and fittings ana although it could only be driven on the road from the cab it had rail controls at both ends. As far as know it was stationed in Avonmouth and painted yellow to meet railway regulations.
