Hello... What's this bloke doing? My Nova Scotian snowplough correspondent Mac Mackay proves definitively that he takes pictures from all over the place... He tells me: "Forida has a big demand for precast concrete beams for bridges and highway overpasses. Movement over highways seems to be organized by the truckers with a few guide cars... These good ole boys were moving out a series of beams in April 1998 in Tampa, Florida (sorry it was too hot for my anorak)..." And click through to see the whole thing...
Mac continues: "It's hard to capture speed in still photos, but they were really moving turning onto the road- 20 to 30 miles per hour would be a fair guess..."
"The tail gunner on one rig - Marlboro tightly clamped between his lips - really needed those beef arms to straighten out all those whells. I particularly recall the ordinary low-boy trailer sagging in the middle, but with lots of flex left in it!"
Thanks Mac and for sure Halifax, Nova Scotia IS a long way from Florida!
They make 'em tough down there!

Looks like McTyre Trucking who are concrete beam specialits. I did a story on them about 5 years back and even had a go at driving the huge rear bogie - while still in the concrete works, But it was too frightening for me. They rigged up a CB so the rear crew man could talk to the tractor driver but in the 40 miles or so I did with them near Palm Beach they never spoke at all. They work together so much they know what each other is thinking. I told McTyres these bogies looked old fasioned as we used them in the 196y0s and they said they had just made them. The mind boggles
