Well this should take care of any shortfall in the European sales of Iveco heavy trucks! Word reaches Biglorryblog that Deutsche Post has chosen Iveco to be its commercial vehicle partner, with 4,500 of its 7,500-strong vehicle fleet currently used under the DHL brand in Germany due to be replaced with new Ivecos over the next three years. Corr luvverly grub! Indeed, Deutsche Post is buying 3.5-tonne Dailys, each powered by a 116hp Euro-4 engine but with Iveco's automated AGile gearbox, which is designed to reduce fuel consumption and driver fatigue. Each one will be fitted with a diesel particulate filter, which says Iveco: "...makes them the most environmentally friendly model currently available on the market in Germany. The particulate filter serves to lower the particle emissions significantly below the limits currently in place, which will support Deutsche Post's GoGreen programme, which is aiming to improve CO2 efficiency by 10% by 2012. Hello...what's going on here asks Biglorryblog? Well apparently Grimsby-based  drainage specialists Jet-Tech are 'flushed with pride' following the arrival of their latest Mercedes 318CDI Sprinter van. What's so special about it? Well for a start the long-bodied, high-roofed Sprinter boasts a throbby 184hp 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel with a stump-pulling 400Nm of torque. (Enough for a 7.5-tonne, never mind a big panel van says BLB). Anyway, one thing's for sure, whenever Jet-Tech (which offers a comprehensive drainage service to domestic and commercial clients throughout Lincolnshire, Humberside and south Yorkshire) gets a call, you can bet they'll be there in a hurry---thanks to their ESP-equipped V6 Sprinter...varrrooooommm! Now click through here for more...

Hardstaff 2.jpg

I'm sure, like me you've found yourself driving along temporary roadworks on the motorway and a long line of inter-linked concrete barriers like those pictured above. And no doubt you've thought "Where do they come from?" You might even have been driving clockwise around the M25, looked left as you approach Heathrow, and seen a whole pile of them standing on the concrete pad next to one of the reservoirs and mused: "Who owns that lot?". Well the answer is they come from the Hardstaff group www.hardstaffgroup.co.ukUK's leading supplier of concrete safety barriers which has become one of the first UK customers to take delivery of a new van model from Mercedes-Benz.

Nottingham-based Hardstaff Traffic Barrier Services has bought a 3.5-tonne Sprinter 313CDI Dualiner from local dealer Mertrux and, like its established Vito Dualiner stablemate, the factory-built Sprinter Dualiner retains a useful load area but with a second row of three seats, allowing it to carry a crew of six, including the driver. Hardstaff is regularly called upon to make emergency barrier deployments, for example after a major road accident or a toxic spillage and also installs protective barriers ahead of major public events. Trundling along the M25 the other day my attention (such as it is at 55--that's years not mph) was caught by the back end of this Ocado home delivery van...as always it pays to read the small print as per the message on the left...
