Biglorryblog is always pleased to help promote websites which celebrate British road transport and so I was delighted to get this e-mail from Paul Anderson who says: "I was wondering if you had seen the website I am building about Northwest Haulage companies which you may find interesting I cannot believe the interest there has been in the site in such a short time i am now receiving around 40 to 60 emails a day."And if you want to see Pauls' website go to http://northwesttrucks.fotopic.net/ it's got some great photos on it including this early Scania Vabis!
Thanks Paul and all the best for the website.
Fancy a change of direction....? Having taken 'early retirement' from my previous life as Editor-in-Chief of the
"Attention all you hard-pressed operators!" says Biglorryblog. "Is your website doing enough for you? And have you even got a website?" If you answered no to both those questions then it's probably time to do something about it.Which is where Biglorryblog's chum (and former deputy editor of Commercial Motor) Louise Cole might just be able to help you. Having taken the plunge into becoming a freelancer some time ago Louise has since set up her own web design operation which now includes such big name customers as Elddis Transport and The Pallet Network. So how might Louise help you? Click through here for the full SP!

Did you know that Biglorryblog was one of the Twitterati? Yes BLB is on Twitter and I regularly update my followers on Twitter with news of new postings and content on BLB. So are you a Twit? If not, and want to be tipped off whenever I put new content up on BLB, then why not make sure you're following me on Twitter? It's very easy to join, just go onto http://twitter.com/ and then you can search for Biglorryblog and sign up as one of my 'followers' (though please, not one of my stalkers... I've enough problems with them as it is...)
And while I'm at it don't forget that you'll find all the latest news on the road transport scence by going to www.roadtransport.com where you'll also be able to read Oillie Dixon's World Trucks Blog.
Welcome to the wonderful world of the 'MAN Virtual Showroom' And I have web developer Thomas Evans for tipping Biglorryblog off to this exciting development. Thomas says: "Hi Brian, The new MAN website is now uploaded to the live domain:www.man-virtualshowroom.com
Thomas says: "Am sure you'd probably worked out from the previous email but we've developed a 3D Virtual Showroom environment for MAN. The intention for the site is to be able to present products, news and views from the organisation within a concept environment. The website uses a mixture of CGI created environments and Flash to deliver the information in a bit more of an exciting way to the traditional web format. It's more microsite than traditional info based web site where in future we hope to be able to scale the environments, add more zones and publish some of the more dynamic content that MAN are able to offer the web."
"Hope you find of interest," says Thomas---and indeed I do. I've gone on to it and it's all rather whizzy and clever and easy to flit around. I particularly like the way you can click and zoom in on bits of the truck for a 'virtual' tour. Now if only we could do press conferences like this!
Well here's a right load of old bullocks....Gerald Woodgate all-round amiable cove and editor of Transport Nerws Network www.tnn.co.uk
has been in touch with Biglorryblog to ask for a plug for his new baby "Tachoblog". And in the words of the great Barry Norman 'Why Not?' especially as TNN co-hosted BLB right from the very start So one good etc...Gerald tells me: "Tachoblog www.tachoblog.com is a fast growing, relatively new blog about, as the tagline says, Tachos, Trucks and Trivia. Given a soft launch last year, Tachoblog has been firing on all cylinders since January and in this time has doubled its readership every month."
Gerald continues: "Tachoblog has worldwide appeal and has readers from throughout Europe, Asia, Southern Asia, Africa and the Americas, some of whom have started to submit some bloggable items to Tachoblog and we hope this will continue and grow over the coming weeks."
To give you a taste of Tachoblog in the last few days Gerald says: "We've got up close and personal with President Obama, gone Cape to Cape with both Renault & Iveco, met a 1998 379 Peterbilt called Goldie, started to learn about healthy eating for drivers with a recipe for Spanish Chicken, visited the cleanest workshop ever, had exclusive spy shots of the 2009 Toyota Hilux, published the latest legislative changes for operators, tried to get onto Scania's 2010 calendar, looked at ox carts, got the beers in with Volvo & Adnams and had views from the cab from across America."
Gerald concludes: "With blogs being able to compliment one another rather than competing against each other, Tachoblog is the perfect 'other read' for people who can't get enough of Biglorryblog and Tachoblog looks forward to seeing and hearing from you at www.tachoblog.com." I'll bookmark it nw says BLB and welcome to the bloggoesphere!

Word reaches Biglorryblog that Iveco has re-launched its www.ivecovehicles.co.uk
website with a new design, structure and additional content aimed at highlighting the latest special offers available to UK customers through its nationwide dealer network. The site builds upon the wealth of corporate information available through www.iveco.co.uk and will be regularly updated, with incentives across the complete range of Iveco vehicles, from Daily vans to maximum weight Stralis artics.
Andrea Bucci, Network Strategy and Marketing Director, explains to BLB: The internet is increasingly the first port of call for owner-drivers and small businesses when they are looking to acquire new vans or trucks. The www.ivecovehicles.co.uk new website assembles core information about our different products in a quick and easy to navigate format, with direct links to product brochures just a click away."

Thanks to Cam McFadyen Bigloryblog can tell you all about the fabulous Australian Heritage Truck Association website at http://www.heritagetruckassociation.com.au/ which is not only ripper and bonzer, but fair dinkum too! Amongst the terrific heritage material on the site there are some fantastic photo galleries of past HTA Shows down - under plus personal photo albums from the likes of Biglorryblog regulars such as AtkiPete Lynch and Peter Murray. It's well sign-posted, easy to navigate - so what are you waiting for. Get visiting!
And to get you in the mood this little bonnted beauty is from a previous HTA Show album... And for a pie what is it? And for one more brain teaser click through here...
Biglorryblog's man in New Zealand, the unflappable Rod Simmonds has sent me this link to a rather interesting New Zealand (or is it Aussie?) website -- anyway it's down under! It's called Mytruckintractive and here's the link...http://mytruckinteractive.com/ Check it out, it6 has some fun things on it...I tried to register on it but for some reason I couldn't get on. But I'll keep trying.
Meanwhile, I'd be failing in my duty if I didn't mention the fact that TruckNetUK has just 'migrated' over to the www.roadtransport.com website and has gained all sorts of benfits from the move. TruckNetUK is THE website for professional drivers and on it you'll find all sorts of interesting forums including an old truck and old-timer section too. To go straight to the home page use this link.

Thanks to Alan Bunting, the 'Peter Pan' of Her Majesty's Truck Press I can alert all Biglorryblog readers to this enagaing story of a US 'trucker' who takes his pet duck with him everywhere he goes...and if you don't believe me click on this linkDuck or grouse?

Well seeing as you ask here's a quick sleection....starting with this timber rig pulling out of the junction captured on the Kontiomaki (Oulu) stite. Looks like it might just be a Sisu to Biglorryblog..

Now here's a tipper waiting at the stop lights at the Kalaami site...can anyone identify what it is from the mirrors (and if you can you're bloody good!). And click through here for one more....
Shhhhhhhh........do not disturb. (And for a pie what is it?) It's a long time since Biglorryblog featured a view from one of Axis Intermodal's many webcams sited throughout the Port of Auckland (click on this link to see for yourself http://www.axis-intermodal.co.nz/ only right now it's early Saturday morning over there so it's a bit quiet....)
Meanwhile, I'm still heartbroken ever since the Finnish road authorities opened a new bypass which closed down my favourite VT6 'Road 6' webcam site at the Lappeenranta junction at Selkaharju in Southern Finland. And here's a picture from it too for all you nostalgia freaks (and what's that truck for another pie eh?).
However, I've just got to put it behind me and move on as they say. So thanks to Rod Simmonds I've found a new one in New Zealand. The Traffic Cam site and he tells me that: "You will get lots of trucks on this...when you have the time of course..."
The US site has gems such as this spill of red dye:

and this spill of alligator carcasses:
