All loyal readers of the Desperate Van Challenge will know that my amazing Renault Master has not been the most reliable vehicle so far. I was convinced that I had fixed its charging problem by tightening the fan belt - but stupidly hadn't charged the battery back up again.
So, the day of the challenge Will had kindly offered to jumpstart me so I was able to drive to the test track and charge the battery during the process. Sounds simple. Apparently it's not. Due to parking arrangements in the street the van was parked, it had to be moved backwards a few metres so that the Van-Rouge could give mine the kiss of life.
Whilst Will was slowly rolling the vehicle backwards down the hill it suddenly stopped. The open driver side door had hooked itself onto a lamppost and stopped the van. This was not a tricky situation to get out of, though it did leave the door bent about 50mm out of position, which the two of us couldn't rectify. B******...
Cake Stud Colin and webmaster Toby were called in to help bend the door back into its original position (more or less). Jumpstarting took a while as the battery was completely flat and the outside temperature was rather chilly, but it got going in the end.
Off to the test track then... so I thought!?

Seems your ability of picking up a decent van somewhat reflects that of your capabilities with the ladies!
Find the biggest, cheapest unit you can and just hope you don't need a jump start to get it going!
