How old is this Leyland Octopus?

Octopussy.JPG

Leyland Octopus sales went through the roof when they were legally recognised as 24-tonners – according to this old Motor Transport advertisement. It goes on to explain that “operators have placed orders for £1 million worth of these famous vehicles for use in the UK”. Apparently a further £500,000 worth of orders came from South Africa in the same 12-month period.
The question is, what period is it referring to? Unfortunately I was stupid enough to miss off the date when I scanned the image.

Chris Gardner:

Hmmmm, 1954-60??

1957 is when I remember them, hauling chicken feed to my father for Swain of Thurcroft subbing for Spillers or Silcocks (I think).
