How to make a Chevette van sound good

ChvnneLo.JPG

You have to admire the skill of Bedford’s marketing department, who back in the late 1970s were given the job of making a van version of the Chevette sound like a good idea!
So how exactly did they attempt this seemingly impossible task? To put it bluntly, they lied.
And I quote: “The smooth good looks of the refined Chevanne can add considerable panache to your image.”
Really? Perhaps if you were previously running a fleet of Bedford HA’s it might!
Here’s another great line: “Chevanne just exudes class. It says that your business is clearly on the superior side.”
The Chevanne certainly exuded something, but it definitely wasn’t class.
Smart enough for Knightsbridge they may well have been, but they certainly weren’t too smart for the scrapyard – most arriving there frighteningly quickly.
