The Japanese are coming - Will's Roadtransport Revival

NissanTruckLo.JPG

Back in 1977 Motor Transport reported that Nissan trucks had just secured its first foothold in the European market, and wouldn’t be too far away from making an onslaught into the UK market. The company had just shown this tipper at the Brussels Show – and was unstoppable. It would only be a matter of time before it would burst into the UK with its “strongly-built” trucks. Well, it may have made an impression on mainland Europe, but in the UK we’re still waiting!
But probably not for too much longer. Last month Volvo Trucks announced that it will be importing the Nissan Atleon 7.5-tonner – which it will distribute through selected UK dealers from 2010.
But while Nissan has been a bit slow off the mark in Blighty, let’s not forget that other Japanese truck makers have had slightly more success. Hino is rapidly becoming a force to be reckoned with while Isuzu and Mitsubishi 7.5 tonners are becoming increasingly popular.
