VW goes Tranny-bashing – Will’s Roadtransport Revival

VWw.JPG

Throughout the 1970s Volkswagen did its fair share of Transit-bashing. We have already featured an advertisement explaining why the Transporter is better than the Mk 1 Transit, and now it’s the turn of the LT.
A quick glance at this advert, which appeared in Motor Transport in 1977, makes you think that the LT’s service intervals are three times as long as the Transit’s. But in actual fact that isn’t the case. What it’s actually saying is that the Transit requires a service every 6,000 miles, and the LT needs one every 10,000 miles. So, during the course of 18,000 miles, the Transit will be off the road three times and the LT just once. A bit misleading I think.
