Apparently Hyundai has launched a new van...

...But we can't tell you much about it as they decided your favourite CV mags - namely Commercial Motor and Motor Transport - weren't qualified enough to partake in such a historic event.

However, it didn't stop them inviting various mainstream van titles such as What Corner Shop? and Cash and Carrying Bi-Yearly to the event.

So are we bitter? Of course we are, mostly for the fact that we missed out on a chance to leave the office for the day, but also to get our hands on this bold move into an already packed category - though rumour has it that it drives pretty good.

No matter, you'll be pleased to know that Hyundai have arranged a launch-ette for us to assess the new iLoad, as it's called. For this we want no less than a 10 course Gordon Ramsey prepared meal and free gold bullion to make up for this cataclysmic cock-up.

And as for the van, it comes with a payload of 1,062kg and a GVW of 3,160kg. Also available in crew-cab form it's powered by a 2.5-litre common-rail diesel engine producing 114hp, and I'm sure there's other stuff, but until the gold arrives you'll just have wait... (Picture below)

Joe:

Hi Julian,

I believe this is the Hyundai iLoad - which was released in Australia last year!

This, and the sister van, the iMax, are powered by a standard 2.4L CVVT petrol engine with a 5 speed manual gearbox only or a optional 2.5L CRDi turbo diesel with said 5 speed manual gearbox standard or optional 4 speed auto with manual overrides!
