Allison, Onex and Fiat Powertrain. Discuss.

Now here's a thought.

Been wondering quite why Iveco gave over a large percentage of its face time with the media at the recent Eurocargo launch to Allison Transmissions. The doors were locked, and the assembled hacks given some 40 minutes worth on the virtues of the torque converter 'box.

On the one hand, Iveco's pitch at the US market is now an open secret. And an Allison Transmission would be a prerequisite therein. But, in allowing Allison to shout from its rooftop, Iveco must have made trusted long term supplier ZF feel a bit miffed.

So whither Allison? Maybe current owner Onex is getting bored, and maybe Allison could find a new home at Fiat Powertrain. Wouldn't that be fun?
