GAZ gets MAZ - Sort of.

It may sound like  Chav nuptials, but you'd be wrong.

According to this report, GAZ and MAZ are to establish a sort of Joint Venture. KamAZ were up for it, but backed away from Belarusian business for reasons that probably do not need to detain us here.

Seems like a good fit to us; GAZ - owner of LDV - has a bias towards the lighter end of the market, whereas MAZ - which has an existing JV with MAN - tends towards the heavier end.

Of course, we could take this opportunity to get off a cheap shot along the lines of Deripaska, MAN and Piech, but we won't. Because we still fancy Deripaska for a bit of AB Volvo; like the 20 or so per cent that Renault SA controls.
