Daimler Denies Truck Spin Off Report

Reuters - where you can occasionally read this blog as well as informed news - is today reporting an article featured in German Manager Magazin that suggests that the German OEM is gearing up for both more job cuts and the spin off of its truck business.

Unsurprisingly, both suggestions have been met with a stout denial by Daimler AG spokespeople. Manager puts a €16 billion value on the truck business, money that could fill a hole or two.

Smoke without fire? We don't know, but there is a board meeting due on the 25th and 26 September, conveniently AFTER the IAA Show Press Days, at which, says Manager, Zetsche wants to propose a revised strategy to the supervisory committee.

Daimler describes this meeting as 'routine'. Whether the results that stem from the same will be thus remains to be seen.
