Iveco Edges Closer to Serbian Manufacturing Deal

At last, a truck industry deal that might just make some sense.

According to this report, Iveco is edging closer to tying the knot with Serbian OEM Zastava Kamioni A cynic might observe that it's about time that Iveco tied down at least one deal, but that's enough loose talk of Tata.

There's likely to be a bit of business to be had out of South East Europe in the future, but what strikes us as rather splendid is Iveco's apparent intentions to buy 200 hectares of land in order to expand the existing facility.

On the basis that Iveco can get its sums right, this sounds like an entirely sensible move, albeit one that we're not sure is likely to be entirely welcomed by all of its current suppliers. No names but have a look at what Zastava Kamioni does in addition to manufacturing complete trucks.
