Hino and India

News here that Hino is to tilt its hat at the Indian truck market.
Not a surprise; however, we've suggested in the past that the Indian truck market might not be the easy conquest that one or two seem to think that it might be.

Hino, however, is about as conservative a player as it is possible to be in this market, and so, if it sees something, then something is probably there. We just wonder if this might be a precursor to a warming up of the existing relationship with Ashok Leyland; A Hino - Ashok combine would be an eye-opener.

Interesting - what's the growth rate of the India market? I would imagine with the influx of JV, that the capacity is ramping up nicely, but at some point will become oversat?
