IKCO to get $1 Billion Bailout

According to this from the Tehran Times, IKCO is to receive up to $1 billion to help it out of what is being described as a liquidity crisis.

IKCO owns Iran Khodro Diesel, which, in turn, manufactures trucks under licence from Mercedes-Benz. The other big Iranian player - Saipa - which manufactures under licence from Volvo - appears not to be doing so badly; the report suggests that sales to FY end March 2009 were up by 18 per cent.

Intriguingly, the report hints at a possible sale of assets; a brave move on the part of any purchaser at the moment, but, as part of a long game, who knows?
